Sanofor Peat Elixir for dogs & cats
Sanofor Peat Pulp – Herbal supplement for dogs and cats with humic acids and trace elements
Sanofor Peat Pulp is a 100% herbal supplementary animal feed for dogs and cats, extracted from subfossil peat from Austria. The product is naturally rich in humic acids (35%), silicic acid, organically bound iron, and a broad spectrum of plant-based trace elements. The humic acids in Sanofor naturally contain fulvic acid as part of the humic acid fraction. Sanofor supports a normal gut flora, normal digestion, and healthy skin and coat — without additives, without chemical treatment. Almost odorless and tasteless, suitable for daily use in dogs and cats of all ages.
What is peat pulp?
Sanofor Peat Pulp is not a factory product – it's a soil product. It consists of digestive residues from hundreds of different flowers, herbs, grasses, and fruits that have fallen into still water over thousands of years and sunk to the bottom. A long chemical-biological process has transformed these plant residues into black, lobed subfossil peat.
The peat from which Sanofor is extracted is approximately 7,000 years old and lies meters below the earth's surface, covered by layers of loam, sand, and rock. Due to this continuous isolation from the outside world, the peat is exceptionally pure and practically germ-free. No chemicals or other substances are added. Sanofor is – literally – a piece of nature.
When do you give peat pulp?
Sanofor Peat Pulp can be used as a daily supplement for dogs and cats in the following situations:
- Gut flora and digestion – to support normal gut flora and normal bowel function, also as a supplement after antibiotic or deworming treatment
- Nutrient absorption – humic acids support the absorption of minerals and nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract
- Skin and coat – silicic acid contributes to a normal condition of skin, coat, and nails; with regular use, it contributes to a full, shiny coat
- Pigmentation – as additional support for normal pigmentation of nose, lips, and eye rims
- Waste removal – humic acids have an absorbent effect and support normal waste removal through the digestive tract
- Flatulence and fluctuating stools – as a supplement for a sensitive gastrointestinal system
- BARF and raw meat – a valuable mineral supplement for a raw diet that is naturally low in plant-based trace elements
- Pregnant bitches and queens, puppies and kittens – safe for use in all life stages
- Eating feces and street dirt – as a supplement for dogs that eat feces, mud, or street dirt; this behavior may indicate a deficiency of certain minerals or trace elements in the diet*
*A separate note on eating feces
Dogs that regularly eat feces, mud, or street dirt — also known as coprophagia — often do so because their body is looking for certain minerals or organic substances that their daily diet does not provide in sufficient quantities. Sanofor Peat Pulp has been used for years as a supplement for dogs with this behavior, due to its broad spectrum of organically bound trace elements and humic acids. It is not a guarantee and the cause can also be behavioral, but for dogs where a nutritional deficiency plays a role, Sanofor can be a useful daily mineral supplement. Always consult a veterinarian for persistent coprophagia to rule out other causes.
The active ingredients in Sanofor
Humic acids (35%) Humic acids are the active core of peat pulp. They are highly absorbent in the gastrointestinal tract and thus support the normal removal of undesirable substances. In addition, humic acids contribute to a normal intestinal mucosa and support the utilization of nutrients from the daily diet.
Fulvic acid is a natural component of the humic acid fraction and is already present in Sanofor — as a constituent of the peat itself, without needing to be added separately. It is therefore not listed as a separate ingredient, as it is not an additive but an integral component of the humic acids naturally present in the peat.
Silicic acid (silicon) Silicic acid strengthens connective tissue and contributes to a normal condition of skin, coat, hair roots, and nails. With regular use, a fuller coat with more shine is the most visible result.
Plant-based iron Organically bound iron of plant origin — in the most absorbable form. Contributes to normal energy metabolism and condition.
Plant-based trace elements Sanofor contains small amounts of plant-based manganese, copper, zinc, and sulfur — organically bound and therefore easily absorbable. Trace elements that are often present in insufficient quantities or in less absorbable forms in standard kibble.
Lignocellulose (0.5%) Plant cellulose that contributes to normal intestinal transit.

Frequently asked questions about peat pulp for dogs and cats
What is the difference between Sanofor Peat Pulp and Sana-Pron probiotics?
Sana-Pron provides active lactic acid bacteria that directly supplement the gut flora. Sanofor Peat Pulp works differently: the humic acids support the gut environment and nutrient absorption, without containing bacteria themselves. The two products complement each other well. After using Sana-Pron, it is recommended to continue feeding Sanofor for a few weeks as additional support for the gut environment.
Can peat pulp also be given preventatively?
Yes. Sanofor is suitable for daily use all year round — even without specific complaints. As a mineral supplement, it is particularly valuable for dogs on a BARF or raw meat diet, and for dogs sensitive to fluctuating stools or a dull coat.
Is Sanofor also suitable for puppies, kittens, and pregnant animals?
Yes. Sanofor Peat Pulp is safe for use in dogs and cats of all ages, including puppies, kittens, pregnant bitches, and lactating queens. Start with half the dosage for young animals.
How long should I give Sanofor before I see results in coat and skin?
Coat and skin react more slowly than digestion. For a visible effect on coat, hair roots, and skin condition, it is recommended to give Sanofor daily for at least three to four months. Results may vary per animal.
Can I combine Sanofor with other supplements or medication?
Sanofor can be easily combined with other complementary animal feeds, including Sana-Pron probiotics and Bellosan digested linseed. When used alongside medication, always maintain an interval of at least 2 hours and consult a veterinarian if in doubt.
